Party ’til the Cows Go Home

Hey y’all!  Guess what time of year it is?  It’s South Shore Exhibition week!!  This year the Big Ex is celebrating 125 year, with plenty of activities, exhibits, rides, animals, treats and more!

Starting Tuesday evening at 6pm, the exhibition will kick off with the parade.  This year, due to construction the parade route will be slightly different… It will leave the community college, turn left on High St.- proceed to Empire St.- turn right on Empire St.- proceed along Empire St. to York St.- turn right on York St.- follow to Dufferin St. and then to the Exhibition Grounds.parade

There are so so so many things going on from Tuesday to Sunday.  Starting on Tuesday, the MBRA Ram Rodeo barrel racing starts and follows into Wednesday.  There will also be the qualifying horse pull, fire fighters challenge, 4H events and entertainment by Kippers gymnastics.

On Wednesday there will be the qualifying ox pull, cowboy mounted shooting, a hypnotist and musical entertainment through out the day.

On Thursday there will be light horse shows through out the      day which include pole bending, western equitation, egg & spoon, english pleasure and more.  There will be children’s entertainment, even more musical entertainment and chain saw juggling!

Friday morning starts off with the 4H beef clipping competition, followed by pulling horse, more musical entertainment, more light horse events, and will end off the evening with the Young Guns of Country music which includes Cody Marquardt, Jordan McIntosh, and Jason Benoit!

Saturday continues with similar events, with the championship horse pull, the Strongman competition, and the day ends off with Chad Brownlee as the music head liner at 9:00pm Saturday night.

Sunday is the final day, with the demolition derby, and the arts and crafts awards.TheBigExpic

The main building hosts many musical acts, food vendors, and local vendors selling merchandise.  Campbell Amusements will be there all week with fun carnival rides and games.  There is also a petting zoo, quilt display, farm equipment exhibit and more.  The exhibition provides a great way to learn about Lunenburg county and the industries in the area, including Christmas tree farming, agriculture, crafts and more.
