Nova Scotia has wonderful farmland all over the province. From veggies to beef, these items can be purchased locally at farmers markets almost every day of the week.
Starting on Thursday, Lunenburg hosts a farmers market at the Lunenburg Arena from 8:00am-12:00pm. This is a year round market that moves to the community centre for the winter once the ice is put in the arena. This market is great. I look forward to Thursday mornings because I get to start my day off with a delicious chocolate croissant and coffee. With over 45 vendors there is so much to choose from. Fresh produce, wine, breads, meats, prepared food, artisans and much more is offered at this market.
The following day, the Chester Farmers’ & Artisan Market takes place at the Chester Visitor Information Centre on the front lawn. From May 27- October 7th you can enjoy this market from 10am-12pm. Jewelry, Folk Art, Fruit, Veggies, Fresh Fish and more can be found at this market.
On Saturday there is a market in Hubbards, and also one in Bridgewater. I visited the Hubbards market earlier in the season and was not disappointed. Located at the Hubbards Barn this multi level market has so much to offer. It has the typical bakeries, coffee, prepared food etc., but it also includes jewelry, chocolate, dog treats, body care products and more. I love this market! The Bridgewater Farmers’ Market runs from 9am-1pm every Saturday from June to October. This is a small community based market that sells produce, meat products, baked goods, artisans and more.
Stop by one of these markets to support local vendors and enjoy fresh items!
