Delicious Local Living at the Hubbards Farmers’ Market

Is there anything better than a Farmer’s Market?  I mean, seriously?  All those yummy, fresh, local products all in one place.  You know they’ve been cultivated and crafted with love and dedication, you don’t even need to ask.

Over the past few years Farmer’s Markets have been popping up in communities across Nova Scotia.  Some are large and some are small, but one thing is guaranteed – they are great community gathering places.  One of the best Farmer’s Markets on the Bluenose Coast is the one held every Saturday from mid-May to October in Hubbards.

The Hubbards Farmer’s Market hosts vendors from across the South Shore and is the place to be if you want try the best that the area has to offer.  From grain-fed meat products to locally crafted jams and jellies to farm-fresh organic vegetables, the market features many of our region’s most highly respected producers.

But in many ways, it is more than the quality and variety of fresh local products that brings people out each Saturday.  The Market does a great job of creating the perfect blend of social ambiance and community spirit.  There are picnic tables and benches to encourage visitors to sit and chat over a cup of coffee.  A small sandbox with toy trucks lets children entertain themselves while their parents browse.  People tap their toes to live musical entertainment as they browse the vendors’ stalls.
